I met this (approx. 2-in) praying mantis in early
September, 2000. I was building a large set of
shelves for my apartment, and discovered the mantis
on the sliding doors of my deck (in Champaign, Illinois).
(S)He seemed content to just sit on the glass all
through the morning, afternoon, and evening. (S)He
would occasionally stir and move to another section
of glass, but didn't seem to catch anything when
I was watching. Not at all camera shy, as you
can see.
