Mom, Dad, Troy and I drove into Anchorage to
usher in the new millenium. The fireworks
were great, and it promised to be an excellent
party.
As our hotel bus drove downtown, however,
the radio announced "Attention: the performing
arts center has received a bomb threat--
do *NOT* go downtown". The bus driver, whose
English wasn't great, couldn't decided whether
to do as his boss told him (go downtown)
or as the radio told him (do *NOT* go downtown).
We scurried back to the hotel, checked the
news, decided the threat wasn't serious,
and eventually made it back downtown.
Sadly, by that time the party was pretty
much over.
